Although the walls are now covered with Obama’s pictures, the cuisine remains the same – – local, authentic and delicious. This is one of the best bún chả restaurants in town.

The pork balls are slightly fatty, incredibly juicy and tasty. Fresh herbs, noodles dipped into the special sauce, makes for an incredible harmony of flavors.

Hùng Lẩu

The second restaurant was actually where we had our very first lunch in Hanoi. It is a very local joint where no-one speaks English.

With no one speaking English and the menu in Vietnamese, the foreigners will feel a little lost. Tourists will share a table with local office workers on their lunch break. And with broken English, gestures and facial expressions, they made themselves understood and they helped with order lunch.

Bun cha Bach Mai grilled on bamboo stick

Let’s go to Lane 123 Bach Mai street to enjoy a very special bun cha, not only by its special flavor but also by its “delay” serving. Call “delay” serving because you need a lot of time to wait for cha to be grilled well on charcoal and have to wait until your turn.
